Dr. Filippo Speranza received his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Toronto (Canada) in 1999.
He is currently a Research Scientist with Industry Canada - Communications Research Centre (CRC) Canada. He has authored or co-authored more than 60 articles related to R&D of communication systems.
From 2002 to 2011, he was a member of the Canadian delegation at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) where he served as was vice-Chairman of ITU-R SG6–Working Party 6Q, a group concerned with performance assessment and quality control, from 2004 to 2007. From 2006 to 2012, he was the co-Chair of the Video Quality Expert Group (VQEG), an international organization of video quality experts. He also represented the CRC in the Digital Television (DTV) Task Force, a group of Canadian representatives from industry and government.
Dr. Speranza’s research interests are human visual perception, stereoscopic imaging, and subjective picture quality assessment techniques and methods
