The program will allow participants who have finished at least grade 9 to gain around 40 hours of volunteer work per week, while giving them an opportunity to develop their interpersonal and leadership skills. We are looking for top-notch volunteers who are responsible, enthusiastic, creative, and leaders. Volunteer positions fill up quickly, so make sure to register early!
Different volunteer positions available:
Camp Group Assistant
Participants will be assigned with an instructor to help run activities for a younger group of campers and to assist in teaching a variety of projects. They will be expected to support the group instructor to the best of their ability throughout general and lab activities.
Participants assigned to the camp administration will get a better sense of what managing an organization entails. They will be expected to help with general administrative tasks, such as data entry, as well as to organize important activities, such as water games and scavenger hunts.
Participants assigned to the Makerspace are volunteers who have participated in one of our tech camps previously, and have been recommended by their instructor. They are expected to help instructors with 3D printing, as well as keep the space clean.
NOTE: Unfortunately, it is not possible to guarantee a position in advance. Roles will be determined on the first day of the camp week by the camp administration.
How to apply to become a volunteer:
Firstly, it is important to register for this program just as you might do with all of our other programs. To do so, complete our online registration and select the weeks that you want to apply for. It is important to note that you may not get chosen for all the weeks you apply for: registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and depends on availability. With 5 business days, an email will be sent to you with the volunteer application form. This form must be completely filled out and returned to us via email before the due date. Once the completed formed has been received, the camp administration will review the application and confirm with the participant if they have been chosen, and if so, for which camp weeks.
Please note that preference is given to participants who are partaking in one of our teen programs prior to their volunteer week(s).
Volunteering during the summer:
Participants are expected to volunteer from 8:30-16:30 from Monday to Friday to be granted their 40 hours, and are required to be punctual. In the event that a participant must leave early, a parent or legal guardian must authorize it through an email, note, or phone call to the administration of the camp.
