Take your kids to work Day (online)

Have you ever wonder what do engineers do? Join us for one or more workshops during that special day to discover the different domains of engineering!

Who: All students in Grade 9

Language: This program is offered in French.

Dates: November 3rd and November 4th, 2020

Hours: Online from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

Cost: Free

Location: Online only - computer and internet access are required. (No tablets)

Workshops offered in French:

  • 9:30 to 10:00: What is Engineering?

    During this fun and interactive presentation, learn about the wonderful world of engineering. Test your knowledge with a Kahoot game, listen to a student currently studying in Engineering and find out more about the different programs offered at the Faculty of Engineering.

  • 10:30 to 11:30: Where Arts meets Engineering

   Have you ever wonder how to create a 3D object that could be printed by a 3D printer? During this interactive workshop, you will learn basic programming concept and will use your creativity to create a cool mandala in 3D.

  • 1:00 to 2:00: Introduction to VR with CoSpaces

During this fun and interactive workshop, create a 3D world and a roller coaster! Jump in your roller coaster to live thrills during a virtual reality simulation.

  • 2:15 to 3:15: Coding games with micro:bits

   Explore the basics of coding using a virtual micro:bit to build a game. A micro:bit is a small micro-computer, with a series of 25 LED's and sensors that can be used for a multitude of projects in electronics.

On November 4th only:

  • 10:30 Solar Energy meets computing Technology

   Professor Gilbert Arbez, from Electrical Engineering and Computing Technology will present how the solar energy is making its way into the electrical grid and how computing technology is helping this happen.

Note: you must register for each workshop individually if you want to attend more than one.

Go ENG Girl is a day for girls to explore the world of engineering with fun, hands-on activities and mentor presentations.

Girl Guide Engineering Day, 2020

Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders

The Girl Guides Engineering Day scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 on campus is cancelled. However we are offering online workshops to replace this event, so that girls can participate from their house. The collaboration of the parents will be necessary to help their daughter to connect to the online workshop.

Go Code Girl, 2020

Grade 7 to 12

Go Code Girl is an exciting opportunity for girls in grade 7 to 12 to learn about the world of programming. This fun-filled day of coding introduces the girls to computer science, all while bringing their creations to life and meeting mentors in the field!
