Winter Clubs 2019

Targeting participants in grade 3-6, these bilingual educational initiatives provide a positive atmosphere to promote science and engineering. The clubs run for 2.5 hours and participants engage in fun, hands-on activities.

Language: All clubs are offered in a bilingual setting

Grade: For kids in grade 3 to grade 6

Dates: Every Saturday from January 19th to April 6th inclusively (with the exception of March 9th and March 16th for March Break)

Lunch & Snacks: Please provide a nut-free snack for your child to have during his/her club.

If you have registered your child for a morning club and for an afternoon club, please provide him/her with a nut-free lunch.

Cost: $135 (for all ten sessions) payable by credit card online

Location: The drop-off and pick-up takes place inside the main entrance of SITE building at 800 King Edward Avenue.

Programs & Hours:

  • EngSci Club 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • MakerGirls Club 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • GirlSci Club 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • EngTech Club 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

EngSci Club & GirlSci Club offers a mix of engineering and science through building innovative projects, biology projects, using 3D printing technology, and much more!  

EngTech Club & MakerGirls Club will give the participants the opportunity to work on a variety of computer-based projects like animation, programmation, game creation, 3D modeling, and more.

* Please note that the curriculum repeats for the EngSci club and the GirlSci club and EngTech club and MakerGirls Club share the same curriculum.

Registration will open on November 1st.

Location: École élémentaire catholique Roger-Saint-Denis, 186 Barrow cres, Kanata, ON, K2L 2C7 

Programs & Hours:

  • Coding Club 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (FULL **) 
  • Robotics Clubs 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. (FULL **) 

Coding Club gives the kids the opportunity to learn the basics of HTML and other programming languages. 

Robotics Club gives the kids the opportunity to work with different robots, for example, ozobots, makey makey, dash & dot, and much more. 


Robotics Club at your school

Afterschool program for students in grade 4-6, focused mainly on Robotics. This program is offered once a week, starting right after school and running for 1.5 hours each week, for 8 weeks. The afterschool program would touch different technologies, such as Ozobots, Makey Makey, Lego NXT, 3D printing and much more.

Registration: If you are a teacher and you are interested in running this program at your school please contact adventures@uOttawa.ca. A resource teacher at the school and a classroom are necessary for us to be able to run the afterschool program.
