The Professors’ research team was recognized at the 27th Annual International Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering hosted by IBM Advanced Studies and IBM Canada Laboratory for their outstanding research project.
On November 17, 2017, the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Engineering hosted its second annual Design Expo.
Design Expo is an evening to recognize the faculty’s student engineering teams as well as to recognize and honour the recipients of the Alumni Awards of Excellence. The expo highlighted eight student-engineering teams from the Project Integration & Team Space (PITS). Each team displayed their designs and prototypes at the event.
The Faculty of Engineering’s Ceremony of Excellence, held on Thursday, November 9, recognized the hard work and dedication of its undergraduate students, honouring them with various scholarships and awards.
Students from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering bring home a variety of prizes in technical and non-technical competitions at the 67th Canadian Chemical Engineering Conference held by the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering.
"We knew we would be attending to hear from fantastic speakers, make wonderful new connections with people across North America, and see representation from over 300 corporate and academic sponsors. We were not prepared for the fact that this conference had MUCH more than three days’ worth of material."

A big congratulations to our Rocketry Team: they just came back from New Mexico after competing for the Spaceport America Cup 2019 and placed 4th (out of 47 teams) in their category, and placed 8th overall (out of 122 teams)! Amazing!
Civil engineering PhD student Christian Viau and his supervisor Ghasan Doudak have won the best paper award at the Engineering Mechanics and Materials specialty conference of the CSCE 2019 annual conference held in Laval (Quebec). Their paper was entitled “Analytical modeling of heavy timber assemblies with realistic boundary conditions subjected to blast loading”.
PhD student Shruti Tanga won the 3rd prize for her poster "Phosphorus attenuation in a pond – Wetland system treating cropping system runoff in eastern Ontario, Canada" at the 8th International Symposium on Wetland Pollutant Dynamics and Control in Aarhus, Denmark. The prize includes a cash award of 1500 DK.
