The Awards of Excellence are awarded annually to alumni who have distinguished themselves in a professional capacity or made remarkable contributions to society. Presentations will be made during the Celebrate Makers 2018 event with Techopia on Friday, December 4 at uOttawa’s STEM Complex.

Heather Abbott (BASc ’93, Chemical Engineering)
Senior Vice President of Corporate Solutions Technology, NASDAQ
Heather Abbott is Senior Vice President of Corporate Client Technology and Enterprise IT for NASDAQ. In this role, Ms. Abbott is responsible for overseeing the application, development and delivery for Corporate Client products to help customers more successfully scale, enter and thrive in public markets, as well as all web properties, and all of NASDAQ’s corporate applications and internal IT.
Prior to joining NASDAQ, Ms. Abbott was Senior Vice President at Charles Schwab & Co for six years, where she was responsible for leading a team of over 400 technologists in Schwab’s core Investor Services business unit. Before Charles Schwab, Ms. Abbott was a Senior Director at PayPal (an eBay company) in their Mobile and New Consumer Products Division. She also held various technology positions at eBay within infrastructure, program management and product development with a focus on e-commerce development, mobile-based applications, product management and product engineering in both commercial and financial services settings.
Ms. Abbott received a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Business Administration from York University’s Schulich School of Business.

Mattieu Gamache-Asselin (BASc 2012 – Software Engineering)
Co-Founder & CEO – Alto Pharmacy
San Francisco, California, USA
Mattieu is the CEO and co-founder of Alto Pharmacy, a San Francisco-based pharmacy startup looking to improve patients’ quality of life through better care. Prior to Alto, Mattieu worked as an engineer at Parse and Facebook, and he studied software engineering at the University of Ottawa.
Young Alumni Award of Excellence
Justin Tudor (BASc ‘07 – Civil Engineering)
President – Keller Engineering
Justin is the President and Senior Project Manager at Keller Engineering. Since 1982, Keller Engineering has been a multi-disciplinary building science and envelope firm, which works to provide tailored engineering investigatory and project management services with a focus on condominium restoration.
Justin and a team of engineers purchased the company in 2012. Since that time, under new strategic direction, Keller Engineering has doubled in size and expanded to serve Kingston, Calgary, and Edmonton.
Justin has overseen and completed hundreds of reserve fund studies, building conditions assessments and technical audits, while leading building element investigations including cladding failures, water infiltration, concrete, masonry deterioration and membrane replacements.
As a contract administrator and designer, Justin prepares drawings and specifications for the structural rehabilitations, window and roofing replacements, parking renewals, and envelope restorations.
