Wearable technologies, robotics, hydroponics, accessible designs, were among the different categories explored during the second edition of Design Day.

As part of her mandate as NSERC Chair in Entrepreneurial Engineering Design (CEED), professor Hanan Anis and her team of dedicated students organized this event to give students of the Faculty of Engineering the opportunity to present their projects to judges from the industry and the community, as well their peers and professors.

Prizes were spread out over 7 categories. There were also top 3 prizes for best overall design.

One category was the Canada 150 Makerspace Challenge, where students created a STEAM Punk themed innovation in wearable technologies or robotics. The top project won $1000 and many of these innovations will be showcased at one of the biggest Canada 150 event: the Aviation and Space Museum Gala on May 17, 2017.

Best of all, Design Day brought together industry professionals, families, friends, faculty members and students to discuss design challenges in the real world.

The event received media coverage from CBC, Radio-Canada and Le Droit, to name a few. To know more about this annual event, check out these articles and podcasts:
