This year’s competition saw five teams compete for the coveted title as well as the $2000 grand prize.
While all the pitches were excellent and innovative, only one could win. After the judge’s deliberation, the grand prize was awarded to Bijan Samiee and Atinderpaul Kanwar for their new idea SourcEDU.
SourcEDU is a web-based service that allows users to fact check online sources, scholarly articles, and other citable media against a database of sources pulled from the internet. Upon presenting a valid source, the machine-learning algorithm sifts through hundreds of thousands of sources from libraries, publishers, and websites. Once complete, the tool returns statistical information for the source including credibility, accuracy, and impartiality percentages.
Congratulations to all of those who participated in this years’ competition!
