National Engineering Month - Contests Regulations

Instagram Contest

Eligibility

This contest is open to all the followers of the Instagram account of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa. Follow us now.

How to partake?

  • To partake, followers must simply answer a question that will be shared in the Faculty's Instagram story.
  • There will be a new question (and contest) every week for 4 weeks in March 2021.

Theme

  • Each week, an engineering question will be asked to the followers. This will allow the students to share their experience, skills, ambitions and more.

Ownership and use of photos

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa will share some of the best answers in their Instagram Story.

All entries to this contest become the property of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa.

All contestants acknowledge that the content submitted may be used by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa in promotional materials, advertisements and online marketing materials.

Awarding prizes

Among the followers that answered the question, a name will be randomly drawn for each of the questions.

A student can't partake more than once a week and can't win more than once.

2021Prizes

Each of the winners will receive a $25 gift card of their choices among the below choices.

The winners will be contacted directly via Instagram.

Facebook Contest

Eligibility

This contest is open to all the students that are currently registered at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa.

How to partake?

  • You must submit one picture of yourself showing that you are an Engineering student.
    • Be creative, it can show you working on a project, you studying or anything else you feel is appropriate.
    • To be eligible, you must be on the picture.
  • With the picture, you need to send a short text (maximum of 100 words) explaining why do you want to be an engineer. You can submit it either in French or in English.
    • There is no minimum of words.
    • Your text might be slightly modified to ease understanding.
    • The text will be translated by the marketing team to ensure that all can understand it.
  • The participation form must be filled (this includes giving your consent for the use of the content as well as having shared the picture, text and all asked information) by March 14th, 2021, at the latest.
  • We encourage you to follow us on Facebook to ensure you don't miss anything from this contest.

Theme

  • Your picture must demonstrate that you are an engineering student. Creativity is encouraged!
  • You can submit a picture of yourself alone or with other persons (if they give you their consent). The picture can be taken by you or someone else as long as you have their permission to use the picture. We also want to reiterate that it is important to respect the health and safety guidelines and to keep social distancing.
  • Your text must respect the word limit and must clearly explain why you would like to become an engineer.

Ownership and use of photos

All entries (picture and text) to this contest become the property of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa.

All contestants acknowledge that the content submitted may be used by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa in promotional materials, advertisements and online marketing materials.

Awarding prizes

All eligible entries will be shared on a Facebook photo album. All the pictures will be accompanied by the text.

A first voting period will be held and anyone will be able to vote for their favourite(s) picture(s) and text(s). After the first voting period, we will count the votes and the 5 participants with the most votes will win a $50 price.

After that, there will be a second voting period to crown the winner of the contest. The winner will receive an extra $200 prize.

We invite students to share the contest with their family, friends, etc. and to tag themselves on their pictures to maximize their chances.

A student can't submit more than one entry. If so, only the first one submitted will be considered.

2021 Prizes

In total, 5 participants will win prizes.

  • The 5 persons with the most votes will all receive a $50 gift card of their choice (among the places mentioned below)
  • The person with the most votes will also receive an extra $200 gift card of their choice (among the places mentioned below).
